Why Is Higher Education Not Necessary For Financial Success?

This is one of those questions that always spark up so much debate once it surfaces on social media because everyone will have their perspective on the issue.

It is no joke that a university education can be beneficial in many ways aside from just knowledge and skills, but there are many successful people who never went to university, and there are many people who have university degrees but aren’t successful in their careers. So, is higher education really necessary for financial success?

These days success and achieving your goals do not depend solely on education; other factors need to be understood like degrees with high ROI could mean that you’re not wasting your time in the university.

Don’t get it wrong, there are other forms of education aside from college that could make you successful such as;

1. Trade School

Trade schools are schools that deal with specific careers such as aviation, electrician, plumbing, culinary schools, tech schools, cosmetology schools, and so on. These schools sometimes offer more practical when compared to some Universities.

2. Life Experiences

You can become excellent in a skill you grow in and build over the years as long as you stay dedicated to it. You could subconsciously learn a skill that might become your salvation only by watching, learning, and repeating what you’ve seen. Experience is all you need to grow sometimes and trust me, no experience is wasted.

3. Certificate Courses

There are a lot of courses that offer certification online that you could take up and gain mastery in. You could augment your degree with any of those courses such as digital marketing, programming, teaching, project management, forensic examiner, etc.

4. Military Training

Military training offers you enormous experience that can help you succeed in any workforce, not excluding the bountiful advantages involved example a school fee waiver in case you decide to go to university.

5. Apprenticeship

To some degree, this is the most popular, and the best part is that you can gain an apprenticeship anywhere as long as your tutor is an expert at what he does. Here are many apprenticeship courses in different fields such as Law, Nursing, IT, etc.

Having explained that, let’s go back to our main concern. A college education is important because it provides invaluable experiences, gives you an edge over others who have no college certificates, offers connections and lifetime networks, and you can get further in your career and make a high income with most degrees.

However, there are places where your college degree may not be needed, and here are a few reasons you do not need a university degree to be successful.

1. Company Requirements

Most companies are not about your degree, sometimes during their interview, they may not even take much notice of your resume as much as your skills and what you have to offer the company. So, if you’re not thinking of getting a university education, learn skills such as interpersonal skills, communication skills, and problem-solving amongst others.

2. What You Think Success Means

What success means to you determines where you function, if success means getting a degree on paper, or actually achieving your dreams, then that determines if it’s important to get a university education because some people may choose to chase their dreams without passing through the university and will still succeed.

3. The industry

Most actors and actresses did not study Theater Arts, in fact, most of them studied Science and accounting courses but are making money from their potential. Figure out where you belong, that’s the first step to success, and you might even realize you do not need a university education after all.

Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, Dave Thomas, Rachel Ray, and Steven Spielberg amongst others, I’m sure you know their stories. However, the university can provide many benefits beyond just knowledge and skills.

It can also provide networking opportunities, a structured learning environment, and a chance to develop your social and emotional skills. At the end of the day, the ball is in your court.
