About the National Youth Service Programme

National Youth Service (NYS) is a youth development institution established in terms of the National Youth Service Act, 2005 (Act no. 6 of 2005). The President is the Head of the Service and assigns its administration to the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Service.

NYS is mandated to offer personal development programs and opportunities for voluntary services to the youth, thereby contributing sustainably to national socio-economic development efforts.

To achieve its mandate, NYS offers a three (3) phase training programme to the youth, namely National Service Training, Voluntary Service and Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) programmes.

NYS is inviting interested and unemployed Namibian youth to apply for enlistment into the National Service Training. National Service Training is mandatory for all wishing to proceed to Voluntary Service and Skills Training.

National Service Training is a six (6) months training. Upon completion, recruits will either be deployed for Voluntary Service into projects of National importance or enrolled for Technical Vocational Education Training (Skills Training) at Rietfontein Training Centre. The NYS TVET programmes are registered with the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) and accredited by the Namibia Qualification Authority (NQA).

Qualifications

  • Be a Namibian citizen
  • Availability for the entire duration of the programme is Six (6) Months.
  • Not be more than 35 years old.

General Competencies

  • He/she must be a person of integrity, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and be a team player;
  • Strong managerial skills, including motivating, developing, coaching, and leading team
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards;
  • Competent and organized;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a team-modulated and collaborative environment.

Instruction on the completion of the form

  • Complete the form in Block letters with black ink.
  • This application form must be accompanied by a Certificate of Conduct, certified copies of birth certificate/ ID and Certified copies of certificates.
  • No late application forms, incomplete or faxed will be accepted.
  • Should you not receive any notification regarding the status of your application, consider your application unsuccessful.
  • Completed forms with all required attachments must be submitted at: National Youth Service Officers or send to National Youth Service, PO Box 32269, Pionerspark, Windhoek, or hand delivered at NYS House, no. 12-14 Haddy Street, Windhoek West.
  • Application forms can also be collected at the following places: National Youth Services Head Office, Youth Centres under the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service or Regional Constituency Offices or via email at:info@nys.com.na.
