About Kitwe School of Nursing
Kitwe Teaching Hospital provides comprehensive quality health care and medical services and undertakes the functions of Teaching, Research, and Development within the limits of available resources. Kitwe Teaching Hospital is located in the City of Kitwe in the Copperbelt province.
It was commissioned in 1958 as Llewlyn Hospital (named after Lord Llewelyn, one of the Governors in Northern Rhodesia). The name changed to Kitwe Central Hospital in 1964.
The Hospital is located along Kuomboka Drive at Plot No. 2831 in Parklands. It is the third-level referral hospital serving the second-largest populated city in Zambia.

- Pre-Service Registered Nursing – 3 Years
- Pre-Service Registered Midwifery – 3 Years
- Registered Public Health Nursing – 3 Years
- In-Service Program Peri-Operative Theatre Nursing – 1 Year
Kitwe School of Nursing Entry Requirements
Applicants must possess the following:
- Grade 12 with 5 “O” Levels
- “O” Levels at Credit or better. Subjects: English, Mathematics, Biology/Science, and any other two.
- To pass both aptitude tests and Oral interviews.
- In-service/Staff Development
- 3 Credits (English, Mathematics, and Biology/Science).
- A Letter of Recommendation from any immediate Supervisor.
