How Hard Is Life Without A College Degree?
It is just as hard as not having a college degree for some, and a lot less stressful for others. I’ve heard this question a lot of the time and I know it’s stuck in the heart of people especially those who are at the cross-road between applying for a college degree and not doing so.
Look, life is hard regardless if you have a college degree or not, but what matters is how you can make it less cumbersome for yourself.
I’ll tell you the truth, and that is, aside from college, there are tons of other means to make money and live the soft life we all crave. If you ask me, you do not even need a college degree for your life to be a lot less stressful, all you need is a strategy, and that is just where I’m driving at, just scroll down.
What To Do To Succeed With/Without A College Degree
1. Set Realistic Goals
Emphasis on “realistic” because most of us set very strange goals we know can never be obtainable, like planning to build a bank when you have no interest in banking or funds, to begin with. The best thing about setting goals is that you become visionary, and you move with a sense of direction.
Set goals and work towards them. You could juxtapose them into short and long-term goals, and after doing that, give it your all and the universe will have no choice but to bless your hard work.
2. Take Online Classes
Some of my fashion designer friends who never attended college are making it thanks to online classes. The world has gone digital and you do not need to attend visual classes to learn, why not learn something new online, or perfect your skills through online classes?
3. Harness Your Skills
Skills are the most important, you could have a college degree but if you have no skills, then it’s as hopeless as not having a degree. Work on what you have already, sometimes it’s safer to harness the skill you have already than try to build another one when you haven’t gained enough knowledge on the underlying one.
4. Get An Internship
An internship is better to learn practical and hand in skills in your career of choice. There are lots of companies offering internship programs in different courses, you could choose any course that suits your interest, and passion and develop the skills efficiently.
5. Source For Opportunities That Do Not Need College Certificates
Not all companies are after college certificates, some are just interested in your skills, and what you have to offer the company asides certificate and theory. So, this could be your one chance to get a job using the skills you have.
6. Get A Mentor
Mentorship programs are underrated, but having one mentor who’s passionate and excellent at what you love and would love to do. Your mentor could be a strong force in helping you achieve your dreams.
7. Invest
Spending time to learn and sharpen your skill is an investment, so you know that investment isn’t only monetary. Invest in your skill, time is a resource that shouldn’t be toiled with, and money isn’t only for spending. Save up, and invest for the future, and you won’t have to worry about how hard life will be without a college degree.
